Description of Significance THE OKMULGEE COUNTRY CLUB IS LOCALLY SIGNIFICANT UNDER CRITERION C FOR ITS ARCHITECTURE, DESIGNED BY LEON B. SENTER, OF THE SMITH, REA, LOVITT, AND SENTER, ARCHITECTURAL FIRM OF KANSAS CITY AND OKMULGEE. THE CLUB HOUSE BUILDING IS AN EXCEPTIONAL EXAMPLE OF A BUNGALOW/CRAFTSMAN DESIGN EXECUTED IN NATIVE SANDSTONE ON A PICTURESQUE NATURAL SETTING ON A GRADUALLY SLOPING HILLSIDE. THE COUNTRY CLUB IS ALSO SIGNIFICANT UNDER CRITERION A FOR ITS ASSOCIATION WITH THE RECREATION AND CULTURE OF OKMULGEE, OKLAHOMA. THE CLUB HOUSE, THE NINE-HOLE COURSE LAID OUT ON AN UNDULATING LANDSCAPE; AND, TENNIS AND CROQUET COURTS WERE ALL CONSTRUCTED IN 1920, WHICH IS WHEN THE PERIOD OF SIGNIFICANCE BEGINS. THE PERIOD OF SIGNIFICANCE CONCLUDES AT THE END OF THE HISTORIC PERIOD, 1967. LISTED 3/15/2018.
